Manual Widescreen and FOV Fix
If the Modernizer mod doesn't work for you, the UI and crosshair will likely look stretched. You can fix the FOV and resolution manually in your configuration. Open the autoexec.cfg file (located in the game directory folder) with Notepad or any other text editor. Find "screenwidth" and "screenheight" and change them to your screen resolution. After that, find "pvmodelfov" and "pvmodelaspect" and adjust them using the values in the table below.
Reference Values for Different Resolutions:
| Resolution | pvmodelfov | pvmodelaspect |
| 1920x1080 (1080p) | 80 | 1.777777 |
| 2560x1440 (1440p) | 85 | 1.777777 |
| 3840x2160 (4K) | 90 | 1.777777 |
| 1280x800 (Steam Deck) | 75 | 1.6 |
| 2560x1080 (Ultrawide) | 95 | 2.333333 |
Note: pvmodelfov expands your peripheral vision. Don't set this too high (above 110), or the arm and weapon models will start to look detached or glitched. Additionally, because the game was designed for older monitors, you may see the game world on the left and right sides of the sniper scope. Try to find a balance with pvmodelfov (75 - 80) to get a wider view without shrinking the scope too much.
Important: You should also check the display.cfg file. Make sure the resolution matches your screen there as well, and change "VSyncOnFlip" "1" to "0". Turning off VSync here helps remove "heavy" or "laggy" mouse movement in this game.
